KARACHI: Opener Kamran Akmal’s 86 runs and fast bowler Hasan Ali’s three-wicket haul helped Peshawar Zalmi to win the match by 61 runs on Monday at the National Stadium, in a low-stakes clash that doesn’t involve a do-or-die situation for either team. Kings were all out on 142 in 16.2 overs, in their 204 run-chase. CA Ingram offered a relative resistance from Kings with his 71 off 37 balls innings, including seven boundaries and four sixes. Soon after his departure, Kings lost its chasing streak, reported Geon News Monday.
Skipper Imad Waseem scored 30 off 25 before giving his wicket to Hasan Ali. Sameen Gul and Wahab Riaz picked two wickets each. With Monday's game, the playoff matches have been confirmed.
Mohammad Aamir in his return today, picked three wickets off 24 runs. Colin Munro picked two while Usman Shinwari bagged one wicket.
Akmal was well assisted by Imamul Haq 59 off 40 balls before giving his wicket to Aamir. Karachi’s thrilling one-run victory against top-ranked Quetta Gladiators last night rendered both of today’s matches as virtual dead rubber contests. Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United and Karachi Kings are safely through to the playoffs.
