82 encroachments removed in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: The District Administration on the directive of Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Chaudhary Muhammad Ali Randhawa has launched a grand anti-encroachment operation in all tehsils of the district.

According to a District Administration spokesman, the anti-encroachment teams removed 82 encroachments. unicipal Corporation, Rawalpindi removed 67 encroachments from Shamsabad Park, Sixth Road, Sadiqabad and Ghaznavi Market areas and cleared the roads.

MC Kahuta under its operation removed eight encroachments from Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Road Kahuta and Main Kahuta Bazar areas. Similarly, MC Gujar Khan demolished seven encroachments in Lunda Bazar.

He informed that the officers concerned were directed by the Deputy Commissioner to clear the roads of the district particularly of commercial areas under Clean and Green Punjab campaign and remove temporary and permanent encroachments besides ensuring that the encroachers could not re-occupy the areas cleared under the campaign, he added.

He said, strict action in accordance with the law would be taken against the encroachers without any discrimination. Meanwhile, to ensure supply of food items to the citizens on affordable rates, the administration conducted raids in different Cantonment markets and imposed fines amounting to Rs 65,000 on the profiteers while two FIRs were also lodged against the violators.

According to Assistant Commissioner, Cantonment Zahid Khan, raids on the directive of Deputy Commissioner were conducted at Askari General Store, Day To Day Mart, Mega General Store, Cash and Carry, Range Road Rawalpindi Cantonment and other General Stores to check quality of edibles and their rates.

He informed that Rs65,000 was imposed on the rules violators besides lodging two FIRs. He said that the administration was taking action in accordance with the law against profiteers and the violators would not be allowed to cheat public.
