FAISALABAD: A number of mega projects worth Rs 12 billion are being expeditiously completed in the district, said Commissioner Capt (retd) Nasim Nawaz.
He was Briefing a 28-member delegation of 17th Senior Management Course from Karachi at the Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday. Chief Instructor Kh Shaukat Hussain, Assistant Commissioner (G) Mehr Shafqatullah Mushtaq and Assistant Commissioner (Sadr) Rafia Haider also attended the briefing.
The commissioner said Rs 6 billion would be spent on the construction of 25-km long signal free canal expressway at Sahinwala Motorway. Similarly, Jhal Chowk Underpass and Flyover will cost Rs 2 billion, he added. He said a children hospital was also being constructed at the cost of over Rs 1 billion in Faisalabad and added that after Canada this hospital would be the second biggest children hospital in the world. A number of other development projects, including farm-to-market roads, are also being executed in the district, he added. He appreciated local industrialists and philanthropists for donating sizeable funds for the execution of welfare projects. He said law and order in the district was top priority of the administration and the police.
The delegation was also briefed on the divisional and district structure of the local government and the projects of education, health, agriculture and other sectors.
The Karachi NIM Institue chief thanked the commissioner for a comprehensive briefing on development and other issues. Later, the delegation also visited the University of Agriculture Faisalabad, the Faisalabad Dry Port and the Customs Collectorate.
