Many TV anchors of private channels do not deal with people whom they are interviewing in a mature manner. Recently, a TV anchor interviewed the father of those five children who died due to inhaling toxic smoke at a guesthouse in Karachi. The anchor asked whether the father will miss his children. Such insensitive questions hurt the feelings of the father who was clearly in mourning. In our country, anchors are not trained in reporting on trauma. In the race of TRPs, we are losing basic decency. The relevant authorities must establish a proper institution for the training of inexperienced anchors.
