Two cops killed in encounter in Rahim Yar Khan

BAHAWALPUR: Two police personnel were shot dead during an encounter with the gangsters at Gudd Pur, Rahimyar Khan on Tuesday. A police team led by sub-inspector Arshad Chattha reached across the river to recover the five-year-old daughter of petitioner Nasarullah Jorani on court’s direction. When the police team were rowing back after recovering the girl, some unknown culprits opened fire on them, killing sub-inspector Arshad Chattah and cop M Sadiq and injured petitioner Nasarullah Jorani. They escaped into the jungle. The area has been sealed to search for the culprits. Zahir Peer Police registered an FIR against 12 culprits. The funeral prayer of the martyred policemen were held in their native towns.
