League matches begin in PC Ranking Tennis
LAHORE: Pearl Continental (PC) Lahore Ranking Tennis Championship was formally inaugurated here at Punjab Tennis Academy courts Bagh-i- Jinnah Lahore on Tuesday.
Roy Kappenberger, GM PC Hotel Lahore, inaugurated the event. “We are delighted that PC administration took initiative to provide an opportunity particularly to the youth to show their potential and abilities,” Roy Kappenberger. On the opening day league matches were played which attracted large number of players in various age groups including open category. It is PLTA’s prime objective to promote the game of tennis through the organisation of tennis tournaments by inclusion of as many junior events as possible,” said Rashid Malik Secretary PLTA.
Results of the matches played on Tuesday: Mian Bilal beat Faizan Fayyaz 7-6,6-1; Salman Fayyaz beat Sameer Ahmad 6-4,6-4; Faizan Khurram beat Ahtesham Sattar 6-0,6-0; Imran Bhatti beat Rana Humayun 6-1,6-3; Fayyaz Khan beat Haroon 6-0,6-1; Ashar Ali Khan beat Ahmer Saeed 6-0,6-2; Hassan Riaz beat Suhaib Waseem 6-2,6-1.
Quarterfinals line- up: Mian Bilal vs Salman Fayaz; Faizan Khurram vs Hadi Hussain; Imran Bhatti vs Fayyaz Khan; Ashar Ali Khan vs Hassan Riaz.
U-12 qualifying round results: Harris Bajwa beat Ammar Rana 8-6, Yashar Tarar beat Mustafa Haroon 8-5, Musa Nisar beat Amin Haroon 8-4, Omer Jawad beat Abdullah Yousaf 8-4. U-12 1st round: Husnain Ali Rizwan beat Zohaib Afzal Malik 8-4, Ameer Mazari beat Ismail Aftab 8-6; Hamza Ali Rizwan beat Mustafa Fahad 8-2; Aizez Khalil beat Mustafa Zeerak 8-4.
