MULTAN: Traders have demanded the government provide relief to the people in the budget.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran central chairman Khawaja Suleman Siddique said that the government had increased the prices of petroleum products before the budget, which was an injustice to them. He alleged that the government was following the dictation of the IMF in compiling the budget draft. Criticising proposed increase in the legislators’ perks and salaries, he said that it would overburden the public at large. He said that the traders would resist any move to increase rates of taxes in the budget. He said that the government had made tall claims of reducing the loadshedding but it had so far failed in this regard. Criticising the Multan metro bus project, he said that it would be the wastage of billions of rupees because the metro bus route covered posh areas and no labourers and factory workers resided along the route. He said that the owners of houses and shops, which were demolished for the project, had not been paid according to the market value.
