PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to director general (DG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission in four writ petitions filed by former provincial minister and others against their arrests and inquiries into their assets. A division bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and Justice Muhammad Daud Khan issued notice to Ehtesab Commission through director general, prosecutor general, director investigation and investigation officer in four writ petitions. The bench asked the Ehtesab Commission to submit reply before June 9, the date for next hearing into the petitions. Former minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) provincial Information Secretary Liaqat Shabab, former advisor to the former chief minister Syed Masoom Shah Bacha, Additional Secretary Finance, Imtiaz Ayub and Obaidur Rehman, an owner of Iqra University Peshawar, had filed the petitions. Liaqat Shabab has challenged his arrest by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission. The petitioner’s lawyer Qazi Jawad Ihsanullah submitted that the Ehtesab Commission on May 28 arrested him on the charge of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
