81pc work on 173 water schemes in Sargodha completed

SARGODHA: The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has completed 81 per cent work on 173 ongoing water supply and sewerage schemes across Sargodha division and Rs 9.90 billion have been spent on these schemes.

The PHE Department official told on Sunday that during the current financial year, Rs 188.3 million had been spent on 86 schemes of sewerage and water supply in Sargodha district, Rs 80 million on 27 schemes of Khushab, Rs 60 million on 28 schemes of Mianwali and Rs 110 million on 35 schemes in Bhakkar district. Under the Annual Development Programme, total nine water supply and 27 sewerage schemes were being completed in urban areas of Sargodha while seven water supply and 42 drainage schemes were continuing in the rural areas of the district, the official added. Total four urban and 12 rural water supply schemes were also under way in Khushab and the work was also continuing on 11 rural schemes, he said.

He said that under the ADP, total 28 schemes were under way in Mianwali district, out of which three urban water supply and drainage schemes, five rural water supply and 20 rural drainage schemes were included with an estimate cost of Rs 1.70 billion. He said that Rs 1 billion had also been utilised on these schemes till June 2018. Total Rs 620 million had been spent on six urban sewerage schemes and 29 rural drainage schemes of Bhakkar district, he said.

He added that Rs 110 million had been spent so far out of total Rs 180 million allocated for these schemes in 2018-19 budget.
