Strategy ready on tourism, natural resources: CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that a strategy has been devised to develop tourism industry and tap natural resources for economic growth in Makakand, Hazara and tribal districts of the province.

Talking to a delegation of Dera Ismail Khan Press Club on Saturday, the chief minister said that several projects have been initiated in industries, tourism and communications sectors. He added that southern districts were being developed with regards to industries and tourist activities.

The CM’s advisor on merged districts and spokesperson of provincial government Ajmal Khan Wazir was also present on the occasion, said a handout.

He said that projects of public welfare were being completed on priority basis, and mentioned Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Swabi where circular railway track is being established.

The government was trying to accomplish Swat motorway, economic zones of Rashakai, Hattar and Dera Ismail Khan to open avenues of trade and communications.

Meanwhile, the chief minister chaired a meeting on women’s university campus in Swat. Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, MPA Fazal Hakim Khan, vice-chancellor Swat university and others were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister issued directions for selection of land either at Kabal or Odigram. The chief minister also indicated that he would soon inaugurate the Shangla campus which has been established at a cost of Rs1.5 billion.

He said that establishment of women’s university campus in Swat would be made possible soon and land would be acquired for the purpose soon.

He also revealed that a language centre at Kanju would also be inaugurated soon. He also agreed to the proposal for establishing a BHU, school and a college at Charbagh through Frontier Education Foundation.

The chief minister said that construction of flyovers and bridges would be completed soon in Swat in order to solve the traffic congestion problem there.

He said that the issue of tube-well and water supply at women’s university campus would be solved on priority basis. He also agreed to the proposal for establishing Chinese language centre and a BHU at Swat University campus. He also issued direction for provision of pink buses. He also agreed to the proposal for use of Research Centres land for Kalam Integrated Development Programme.

Also, the chief minister launched the android app prepared by the Education Department for the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education of the province.

He said the new android app would help filter wrongs in the present system and improve it to the highest possible level.

He said every sector of the government would start getting reformed if the Education which was the most important of all could be transformed.
