Plea to shift TTP member to DG Khan jail
LAHORE : A petition has been moved in the Lahore High Court for shifting a member of the banned Threek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Faisalabad jail to Dera Ghazi Khan.
Abdul Rashid, 20, was arrested from Toba Tek Singh and explosives weighing two and a half kilogram were recovered from his possession. Later, he was awarded eight-year imprisonment by an anti-terrorism court of Faisalabad. He is currently undergoing his jail term in Faisalabad jail. His father, Siddique, has approached the LHC, pleading that he was an old man and lived in Dera Ghazi Khan. He said he had to travel a long way to meet his son in Faisalabad. He said he furnished an application to the Punjab home secretary for shifting his son to DGK jail but no action had been taken so far. He requests the court to direct the home department to shift his son from Faisalabad to DGK permanently.
