BAHAWALPUR: Three minor real brothers were killed by ferocious stray dogs in Chak-80 Abbasia in Tehsil Liaquatpur on Monday morning.
The fourth one succeeded in saving his life by running away from the scene and climbing onto a tree, while the mother was injured while saving her sons. Those killed were identified as one-year-old Obaidullah, 11-year-old Husnain Ali and three-year-old Abdullah.
According to police, dogs attacked the boys when they were playing near their house. Muhammad Rashed, the father of the children, is a poor farmer, who was working in his fields at the time of the incident. The mother ran towards the scene after hearing the cries of her children. She was also carrying her one-year-old son Obaidullah.
However, the dogs also attacked them and killed Obaidullah, besides Husnain Ali and Abdullah. The police and civil administration, led by Assistant Commissioner Zahoor Bhutta, later launched a dog-killing spree in the area and eliminated dozens of stray dogs. The assistant commissioner and the police also gave the family Rs25,000 for the burial.
