Islamabad: The executive council, a top-level statutory body of Allama Iqabal Open University (AIOU), has appointed a prominent educationist, Dr. Muhammad Naeem Qureshi, as new registrar of the university for a period of three years. He is likely to take charge of his office on Monday. The executive council, which is appointing authority in the case, made the decision in order to fill the vacant post of the registrar on regular basis. He will replace Professor Dr. Nowshad Khan, chairman of the Department of Agriculture Sciences, who was holding the additional charge of the registrar. Currently, Dr. Naeem Qureshi was working as registrar of the Azad Kashmir University. Having almost 32 years of experience to his credit as an academician and administrator, he had already serviced in other leading institutions like Lahore University of Management Sciences. He did his PhD and MPhil in mathematics from the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The executive council, which met under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui decided that key positions in the university should be filld by regular staff on full-time basis.
