In recent times, education institutions have become money-making businesses. Despite having a large number of private schools, Pakistan has a literacy rate of 58 percent – which has recently declined from 60 percent. Multiple factors have contributed to this sorry state of education in the country. Mismanagement at school and rising levels of poverty are some of the main reasons for the country’s backwardness in education.

It is true that private schools in the country played an important role in filling the void that was created by the government’s constant neglect towards the education sector. However, private education is expensive and not many people can afford to send their children to these schools. PM Imran Khan has always talked about the problems faced by ordinary people. We hope that he will take adequate measures to introduce a uniform system of education across the country.
