ISLAMABAD: Mrs Shahida Kausar Farooq, Chairperson Subh-e-Nau, called for separate tennis academy for the girls while welcoming Pakistan Tennis Federation’s (PTF) initiative of establishing National Tennis Academy (NTA).
“Establishment of NTA is a welcome step. Credit goes to PTF President Salim Saifullah. I would suggest that there should be a dedicated academy for women players to get themselves train and prepare for competitive tennis.
“Due to our cultural and religious bindings, some parents are reluctant to send their daughters to combined academy which is being supervised by male trainers,” she said.
She hoped that under the leadership of Senator Salim Saifullah more tennis promotion work would be initiated in days to come. “Tennis courts are available in the Pakistan Sports Board with all the required facilities. PTF can benefit from these courts to establish academy there for women tennis players.
