‘Faisalabad to be made a model city’
FAISALABAD: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Division newly-elected chairman Chaudhry Faizullah Kamoka Sunday said Faisalabad would be transformed into a model city.
Talking to a delegation of union council nazims, councillors and other notables of his constituency, he said that the previous government spent funds ruthlessly only in Lahore and neglected other parts of the province. However, he added, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government would extend development funds to all parts of the country without any discrimination. He said that Faisalabad was the second largest city of Punjab where state-of-the-art health, education and other facilities would be provided to the people.
Matriculation exams from March 1: Annual Matriculation examinations 2019 will commence under the aegis of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Faisalabad from March 1.
A spokesman for the BISE told here Sunday that roll number slips had been issued to the private candidates at their given postal addresses whereas the regular students could get the same from their respective educational institutions. The students should also contact the BISE office immediately if they failed to get their roll number slips till February 20, he added.
Police front desks to be increased: The police department has decided to increase number of front desks in the police stations to facilitate maximum number of complainants.
A spokesman for the police department told on Sunday that front desks had been established at almost all police stations of district Faisalabad and this experience produced excellent results regarding registration of public complaints against crime incidents. The immediate registration of cases also helped the police officials to start investigation and arrest the accused without wasting times or crime scene evidences which reciprocally decreased the crime ratio, he added. Keeping in view excellent results of front desks, the authorities of the police department had now decided to increase their number, he said. In this connection, paper work was being completed rapidly, he maintained. He said that after approval of the competent authority, this project would be completed on war-footings.
10 arrested for aerial firing: Chak Jhumra police arrested 10 persons on the charge of aerial firing in a Mehndi ceremony on Saturday night.
Police said on Sunday that Irfan, a resident of Aslamabad, arranged the Mehndi function in connection with his marriage when some participants resorted to aerial firing in jubilation. After getting the information, the area police rushed to the spot and arrested 10 persons. The police recovered weapons from the accused persons.
