Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui directed his subordinate officials on Saturday to seal unchlorinated swimming pools in light of the required public safety standards.
Speaking at a meeting at his office to review the measures against dengue and naegleria on Saturday, Siddiqui said, “The government is strictly monitoring public swimming pools in the city and ensuring that the water has sufficient amount of chlorine to prevent the spread of fatal diseases.”
He also expressed dissatisfaction over measures taken by the district administration pertaining to curbing the spread of naegleria, and directed officials to form two committees comprising officers from the health organizations to probe the matter and submit a report to him in 24 hours. He directed the KMC and all the district municipal corporations to speed up anti-dengue spray campaign in the city.
The meeting was attended by deputy commissioners, senior director of medical health services and officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board.
