SIALKOT: Police on Sunday arrested more than 100 people from different localities of the city for celebrating mini Basant, violating the ban on kite-flying.
The police conducted raids at various areas, including Kotwali, Cantt, Hajipura, Nekapura, Rangpura and Civil Lines, Muradpur, Uggoki, Sadar, Kotli Loharan, Railway Road, Lalpura, Model Town, Malkay Kalan, Gohadpur, Abbot Road, Kutchery Road, Islamabad and Mubarakpura, and arrested more than 100 persons. They included Adnan, Irfan, Nisar, Razzaq, Waqar, Hamid, Hamza, Zulfiqar, Ali, Ziam Ahmed, Husnain, Abdul Rauf, Shayan, Usman, Zafar, Hassan, Khalil, Ali Hassan, Bilal, Salim, Ehtsham, Kashif, Abid, Faheem, Adil, Mohsin, Zaeem and Khalid.
The police recovered hundreds of kites and roles of string from the possession of the accused persons. The police have registered cases and started investigation.
FOUR HELD WITH NARCOTICS: Police on Sunday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered narcotics from them.
The police arrested Ibrahim with 1.25kg hashish, Shakeel with 1kg hashish, Pervez with 1.18kg hashish and Munawar with 1.22kg hashish. The police have registered cases against them.
