ACE Gujranwala arrests three for corruption

GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Sunday arrested three people, including assistant accounts officer and jail clerk, for corruption.

ACE Regional Director Sheikh Fareed told that the Central Jail of Gujrat superintendent wrote a letter to the ACE in which he alleged that the jail clerk Sohail Arshad along with the officials of the accounts office was involved in drawing salaries of terminated officials of the jail and other employees fraudulently. During investigation, it was proved that jail clerk Sohail Arshad, Gujrat assistant accounts officer Javed Hussain and another man Babar Sultan were involved in drawing millions of rupees against the accounts of on service and terminated employees fraudulently. Later, the ACE arrested all the three accused persons. CPO for arresting POS: City Police Officer Dr Moeen Masood has directed the police officers to arrest all proclaimed offenders immediately.

Addressing a meeting of the police officers at his office on Sunday, the CPO said that it was our duty to protect the life and property of the citizens. He also ordered action against one wheelie, aerial firing and exhibition of arms across the district. The CPO directed the all SDPOs and SHOs to control kite flying in their respective areas. He directed the SPs to visit to different police stations and monitored the campaign against proclaimed offenders on daily basis.

Minister due in today: Punjab Minister for Environment Muhammad Rizwan will arrive here on February 18 (today). During his visit, the minister would preside over a meeting at the Commissioner Office.
