LAHORE: Hashees Kumer and Rashid Malik (ZTBL) won the U-18 and 50 plus singles titles in the 1st Boulevard National Seniors & Juniors Tennis Championship, which concluded at Hyderabad Gymkhana.
Station Commander Hyderabad Brig Hafeezullah Khan graced the occasion as chief guest and distributed trophies and awards among the winners and runners-up of different events. Brig Hafeezullah Khan thanked the sponsored Boulevard Mall and promised to held Hyderabad Games and other national tennis championships in coming month at Hyderabad.
PTF senior vice president Khalid Rehmani, Hyderabad Tennis Association president Javed Riar and PTF vice president Khalid Jameel Shamsi, former Davis Cupper and PLTA secretary Rashid Malik (ZTBL), Brig Amin Khan, Brig Sarwar, Col Imtiaz, Col Ashraf Farooqui, tournament director Mehboob Waheed, Col Asif Dar, Professor Abdul Ghaffar Chandio, Mukhtar Ahmed, Syed Sakawat Ali, Farah Raiz, Raisa Ashfaq, Sarwar Hussaian, Qamar Habib, Asif Perwiaz, Aslam Chohan, Shabbir Gul (SHA) and others were also present on the occasion. In U-18 singles final, Hasheesh Kumer beat M Ali 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to win the title. In seniors 50 singles final, Rashid Malik (ZTBL) beat Shabbir Gul 6-1, 1-0 rtd to clinch the title. It was double delight for Abubakar Talha (Wapda), who first routed Ameer Mazari 4-0, 4-1 to grab U-10 singles final title and then partnering with Ameer Mazari, he thrashed the pair of Dhuraf Das and Abdul Waheeb Derbari 4-0, 4-0 to lift the U-10 doubles title. In the men’s singles final, Saad Baloch beat Anas Khan 6-1, 6-2 for title while Mahatir Muhammad/Hasheesh Kumer beat M Ali/Mazhar Hayat 6-3, 6-4 to lift the U-18 doubles title. In U-14 doubles final, Ali/Mustafa beat Muneer/Dhuraf Das 7-5, 6-2 to bag title.
