The recent cases of extra-judicial killings have indicated that there is a dire need to introduce police reforms. In the past, the relevant authorities tried to bring much-needed improvements in the system, but to no avail. However what the government can specifically do this time is to add a degree in criminology a mandatory requisite for recruitment in the police force.
Unless we adopt a systematic approach to tackle the shortcomings of our police force, we cannot make our justice system effective enough to meet the expectations of the people.
