Lawyers continue protest against Daska incident
150 DBA members, 70 clerks booked in Sialkot

LAHORE: The legal fraternity Thursday continued protest demonstrations on the fourth consecutive day against the killing of their two colleagues in Daska by a policeman.
District bar lawyers marched towards PMG Chowk on The Mall and staged a demonstration which lasted for more than two hours. Lawyers chanted slogans against the police. Earlier, the Lahore Bar Association held a meeting of its general house wherein it was decided that lawyers would boycott court proceedings on every Monday against the killings. The lawyers observed complete boycott of court proceedings at sub-ordinate courts on a call given by the Punjab Bar Council.
SIALKOT: Civil Lines police registered a case against 150 members of the District Bar Association (DBA) and their 70 clerks for disturbing law and order situation. The case has been registered against lawyers for staging demonstrations against Daska incident.
MULTAN: Lawyers in Multan continued their strike here Thursday. They rejected suspension of the Sialkot DPO and demanded termination of the Punjab IGP and the Sialkot DPO from offices.
Lawyers vowed continuing their complete strike on Friday (today) also.Members of Multan District Bar Association, led by bar president Khalid Ashraf Khan, staged sit-in cum-demonstration at Kutchery Chowk.
The lawyers also rejected Rs10 million compensation to family of each killed lawyer, saying that non-representative delegation of lawyers met Punjab Chief Minister and the lawyers around the country would not accept the government’s poor compensation offer. The lawyers said the Punjab Bar Council has scheduled general body meeting on May 30 to finally devise the protest strategy against police violence.
TOBA TEK SINGH: Lawyers continued their strike against the Daska incident here on Thursday. Strike was also observed by lawyers in Gojra, Kamalia and Pirmahal.
