Prison jammers

This refers to the news report, ‘Mobile jammers at prisons disrupt cellular services’ (May 18). I live in the congested Kot Lakhpat neighbourhood, a few kilometres from the high security Kot Lakhpat prison. It was decided last year to install mobile jammers at high security prisons across Punjab to avert any potential terror threats. Although a good and timely decision, it had an adverse impact on our daily lives as our communication got disrupted badly.
It is rare for us to be able to receive or make optimum quality calls. And when we succeed, signals drop in the middle of the call. This issue is wreaking havoc in our lives. The authorities concerned are requested to look into the matter.
