LAHORE
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) N-5 (Central) has arrested four members of a dacoit gang and recovered arms and ammunition and a vehicle from them.
NH&MP patrol officers Rana Tariq Ilyas, Khursheed Ahmed, Muhammad Hassan and Abdul Hameed on suspicion tried to stop car AB-4209 with a broken number plate, but the car sped away.
They chased the car and managed to arrest four dacoits Muhammad Ashraf of Kot Nanak Singh Changa Manga, Muhammad Saleem of Kot Nanak Singh Changa Manga, Azhar Ali of Gulshan Basti, Jamber and Sajjad Ahmed of Kot Nanak Singh Changa Manga. The criminals in preliminary investigation confessed to crimes on highways.
NH&MP Zonal Commander DIG Mirza Faran Baig appreciated the officers.
Wardens: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema has given cash prize and commendatory certificates to three wardens for arresting a robber in the Lower Mall police limits on Wednesday.
Sector In charge Tariq Wali and wardens Fayyaz and Naveed were on their duty when a robber snatched a purse from a woman later identified as Aziz Begum. When the woman raised a hue and cry, the traffic officials chased the robber and arrested him and recovered the snatched purse from him. The robber later identified as Baqir of Kala Khatai. Traffic wardens handed over the accused to Data Darbar police. CTO announced Rs 2,000 for the traffic officials and announced commendatory certificates for them.
ACCIDENTS: At least 586 road accidents were reported in Rescue 1122 Provincial Monitoring Cell in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which eight lives were lost and 492 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant district. Some 207 minor injured were provided first aid by Rescue 1122 on the spot.
bodies: Three bodies were recovered from different areas of the city on Wednesday.
Police removed the bodies to morgue for autopsy. A 70-year-old man was recovered dead from Taxali Chowk while a 32-year-old man was found dead from Sheller Chowk in the Shalimar police limits.
Yet in another incident, a 50-year-old man was recovered from Bund Road in the Shafiqabad police limits. Police suspect that the three people were drug addicts.
