GUJRANWALA: District and Sessions Judge Amir Muhammad Khan has issued death warrants for two murder convicts.
The convicts - Shahzad Ahmad of Mohallah Tibba Muhammadnagar, Kamoke, and Muhammad Nawaz of Dharial village – would be hanged in the District Jail on May 26.
The convict, Shahzad, had killed Razia Bibi over a marriage dispute on June 23, 2000. He was awarded death sentence by an additional sessions judge on July 6, 2002. The Lahore High Court rejected his appeal on July 3, 2009, and the Supreme Court on May 18, 2009, while the president rejected his mercy petition on May 15, 2015.
Muhammad Nawaz had murdered Ahsan Ali over a minor dispute in 1999. He was awarded death sentence by the then additional sessions judge Abdul Mustafa on January 13, 2001. The Lahore High Court rejected his appeal on February 13, 2007, and the Supreme Court on March 31, 2009, while the president rejected his mercy appeal on May 19, 2015.
