Agri potential

Agriculture is the mainstay of our economic growth. We need infrastructure to support this sector and to improve the trade balance and put the economy back on track. According to media reports, the agriculture sector faces huge post-harvest losses of about 40 percent when compared with the global benchmark.
The horticulture sector is contributing only 0.3 percent in global exports due to the lack of infrastructure and research facilities. In view of this there is a strong need to allocate sufficient funds to the agriculture sector in the coming budget. Also, the Federal Board of Revenue and the finance ministry should take measures to tap our agriculture potential.
