MULTAN: The Lahore High Court Multan Bench disposed of a writ petition on Monday after police disowned the issuance of colour posters, depicting pictures of 20 most wanted dacoits with their head money.
The posters were displayed at city walls, important places, chowks and all branches of banks and the ATM machines.
A woman petitioner had sought contempt of court proceedings against four senior police officers including Multan City Police Officer and Multan District Crimes Committee for publishing a photo of her son, Muhammad Asif, an accused as wanted by the police, though he is on bail granted by a court of law.
Lahore High Court Multan Bench judge Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed disposed of the petition following police disassociated itself from distribution of posters carrying photos of wanted dacoits, here on Monday.
Naseem Bibi had filed a writ petition before the LHC Multan Bench, stating that police had declared her son a proclaimed offender with Rs50,000 head money, while he was on bail. The petitioner complained that the police damaged her son’s character by publishing his photo on posters.
The petitioner said her son was falsely implicated in three criminal cases vide FIR No 544/2014, 617/2014 and 653/2014.
She alleged that the Muzaffarabad SHO and District Crime Committee were harassing her family at the behest of police officials accused in the FIR No 751/2014 in order to force them for a compromise on the matter.
