BAHAWALPUR: Two orphan sister and brother drowned into a canal about 120km from here on Sunday.
Eight-year-old Saira of Basti Hansala near Khan Bela, Rahimyar Khan, and her six-year-old brother Arslan were going to a seminary for learning the Holy Quran. They were crossing a temporary bridge when Arslan fell into the canal. His sister also jumped into the canal to rescue him but both drowned. On information, police reached the spot and recovered their bodies from the canal. Meanwhile, the area people staged a demonstration against the local MNA and MPA for their lack of interest to launch development projects in the underdeveloped area.

BAHAWALPUR: A seven-year-old child died after falling into an open manhole here on Sunday.
Husnain Asif, a resident of Manthar Road, Sadiqabad, was playing when he fell into an open manhole and died on the spot. Meanwhile, the area people staged a demonstration against the Sadiqabad TMA. They demanded registration of a murder case against the TMO and other TMA staffers.
LOADSHEDDING: People have been facing a number of problems due to loadshedding in the city and adjoining areas.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, the people, including traders and shopkeepers, said that the loadshedding had made their lives miserable. They said that the loadshedding was affecting daily activities of life. They said that water supply also remained suspended during the loadshedding. The shopkeepers and traders said that the loadshedding was affecting their business. The people have demanded the government take steps to end the loadshedding.
