‘UAF research, development grants surpass Rs10 billion’

FAISALABAD: According to the latest QS ranking, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad has jumped to 85th position worldwide in the subject of Agriculture and Forestry.
Chairing a Senate meeting at the UAF here, varsity Vice-Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that the last year, the UAF position was 137 in the QS ranking. In the latest ranking, the University of California Davis had topped the Agriculture and Forestry subject whereas the UAF stood ahead the University of Washington, the University of Toronto, the Newcastle University and many other universities of the developed countries, he added.
He said that the UAF competitive research and development grants had surpassed Rs 10 billion. He said that the UAF had produced 101 PhDs in the last academic year. The technological-based education was the need of hour to compete with the world, the UAF VC added. He hoped that the UAF sub-campuses at Toba Tek Singh, Burewala and Okara would emerge as the future universities. He said that the UAF had recruited 132 faculty members to lower down the students-teachers ratio. He lauded the Punjab government for providing record funds to the UAF. The UAF VC said that the model cattle markets and the rural road project were the hallmark initiatives of the Punjab government. Registrar Muhammad Hussain conducted the proceedings.
