ABBOTTABAD: As many as 135 polling stations, out of the total 616, were declared most sensitive in Abbottabad district for the upcoming local government elections.
District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad Sher Akbar Khan told reporters on Wednesday that the Election Commission had established 616 polling stations in Abbottabad. He said that 250 other polling stations had been declared sensitive. Sher Akbar also said that a meeting to review the law and order situation in Hazara division was held at the commissioner’s office, where the participants discussed security plan for every district and demanded additional force, including the army troops and Frontier Constabulary.
The DPO said that a special monitoring cell had been established at the DPO office, with round-the-clock monitoring and the patrolling of policemen. He said that close liaison had been made with other law enforcing agencies for the enforcement of security plan and efforts have been made for the implementation of code of conduct issued by the election commission.
