MULTAN: The district administration has stopped the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf from holding an election meeting at Multan Railway Ground due to security concerns. DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal stated this after a meeting with the district returning officer and police officers held in connection with PP-196 by-polls here on Tuesday. He said that all political parties taking part in the by-polls had expressed their security concerns over the PTI election meeting at Railway Ground. He, however, said that the district administration was reviewing Multan Sports Ground as an alternate for the PTI election meeting. He said that he had suggested all political parties to hold their election meetings at the sports ground. He said that strict security measures would be adopted in and around the polling stations. He sought cooperation from the civil society, citizens and political parties to ensure peaceful by-election. PkMAP wants people behind May 12 carnage arrested By our correspondent PESHAWAR: The activists of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Tuesday staged a protest against the May 12, 2007 carnage in Karachi and asked the government to arrest the real perpetrators of the tragedy. Holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the killing of more than 50 innocent people and injuring several others, the protesters gathered in front of the Peshawar Press Club to stage the protest. PkMAP provincial leader Arbab Mujeebur Rehman was leading the protest rally. Speaking on the occasion, he condemned the Karachi carnage. He said that eight years had passed but no progress was made in the case. The PkMAP leader said no action was taken against a political party, which was involved in the carnage.
