Tayyab crashes out of Pakistan Open squash

ISLAMABAD: The country’s only hope, Tayyab Aslam crashed out of the Pakistan Open squash tournament when he suffered a four-game defeat against top seed Karim Abdel Gawad of Egypt in the second round on Thursday.

The Egyptian, who is favourite for the title, beat Tayyab 11-6, 11-13, 11-5, 11-2 at the DHA Asif Nawaz Squash Complex in Karachi.

The tournament carries a prize purse of $71,000 ($53,000 for men and $18,000 for women).

Also making it to the next round were Mazen Gamal (Egypt), Ivan Yuen (Malaysia), Nafiizwan Adnan (Malaysia), Mostafa Asal (Egypt), Arturo Salazar (Mexico), Karim El Hammamy (Egypt) and second seed Diego Elias (Peru).
