Punjab CM inspects Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro project

He said those who were criticising the project would be hiding their faces after its inauguration, and tens of thousands of citizens of Rawalpindi-Islamabad would soon be benefiting

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said seeing Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project in the final stages of completion is very encouraging. He said those who were criticising the project would be hiding their faces after its inauguration, and tens of thousands of citizens of Rawalpindi-Islamabad would soon be benefiting from this modern bus service.
Shahbaz was talking to the media after a surprise visit to the project site on Sunday. He inspected the 23-kilometer long road project without any protocol and reviewed its entire route by travelling in the metro bus.
He also alighted from the bus at various stations and inspected construction work and issued instructions to the authorities concerned. He said speedy completion of the remaining work was being ensured and no compromise would be made on its standard. He said facilitating masses is the mission of the government.
Shahbaz said he was personally monitoring the project. He said Pakistanis are a living nation and they would be provided respectable and comfortable transport facilities in every city. He said the people of Rawalpindi-Islamabad have shown extreme patience during the construction work on this project and boldly faced various problems for which he would tributes to them.
Later, the CM presided over a briefing regarding Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project at the Punjab House Islamabad where he was informed about all packages of the project. He expressed satisfaction at the pace of work, however, stressed the need for its further acceleration. He said the debris on the route of the project should immediately be removed.
