HORTICULTURE Society of Government College University (GCU) held Dry Flower decoration and Painting Competitions on the themes of ‘Peace’ and ‘Colours of Life’ here Thursday.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the chief guest at the event. About 15 teams from different educational institutions took part in the competitions held in three categories; Dry Flower, Shirt Painting and Poster Painting.
Prof Rahman appreciated the flower decoration by the students, saying that flowers were the symbol of peace and they cast positive impact on thinking of a person. He lauded the efforts of the GCU Horticulture Society for organising healthy competitions among youth as these encouraged the young generation to exhibit their talent. The VC said the co-curricular activities played a vital role in the character-building and personality development of students.
