After our deplorable performance in World Cup 2015 cricket fans were anticipating much better cricket against a comparatively weak side like Bangladesh. But our team’s consecutive defeats in the three limited-overs matches dashed all their hopes. Bangladesh not only outplayed Pakistan in all fields but also won the three-match One-Day series 3-0 – their first ever series win against Pakistan. This humiliating defeat is the final nail in the coffin of Pakistan cricket.
Apart from some minor reshuffling here and there and dropping one or two players, nothing substantial happened. Instead, the Pakistan Cricket Board came up with the novel decision of naming Azhar Ali as captain – a player who was not part of the World Cup squad and who has been struggling to find a place in the One-Day side was given the responsibility to lead the team. It was not only an injustice to the team but also to the player.
