TAKHT BHAI: Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq on Sunday said that politics had been turned into a business and a source to make money. Speaking after the inaugural ceremony of a newly constructed block at the Darul Uloom Muftahul Uloom in Shergarh, he said the prevailing system had failed to provide any relief to the poor. He said that the current system had only promoted the interest of wealthy people and there was no respite for the neglected segment of the society. “The system has been designed to benefit the richest and landlords only,” he added. The JI leader said the poverty and lawlessness had made life miserable for the people. “Even the prime minister and president are not safe,” he maintained. The JI chief said the rate of unemployment was increasing day-by-day and the problems of common man were compounding. “The children of the poor are deprived of education and the underprivileged are not provided any relief in treatment in hospitals,” he added. He said neither the political parties nor the incumbent system brought any relief to the common man or mitigate the hardship of the poor in the last 68 years. “The reason for all these problems is that we had not implemented the Shariah,” he added. He said the solution to all the problems is hidden in Islamic system, adding the JI was striving for enforcement of Islamic law in the country. Sirajul Haq said that unity among the religious political parties, religious scholars, seminaries and seminaries’ students was a pre-requisite for enforcement of Shariah in the motherland.
