Spring Festival gets underway in Kohat

KOHAT: A two-day Spring Festival got underway at Kohat Garrison on Sunday.The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and 9th Division of Pakistan Army jointly oragnised the festival.Corps Commander Peshawar Lt-Gen Hidayatur Rehman and his wife formally inaugurated the event.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Sports and Tourism Amjad Khan Afridi, Managing Director TCKP Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, military, civil officials and scores of families and visitors attended the festival and enjoyed the unique event.
APP adds: Soon after cutting the tape, pigeons and balloons were released in the air.After the inauguration ceremony, the Corps Commander Hidayatur Rehman and Amjad Khan Afridi visited various stalls set up during the festival.
There were stalls of handicrafts, readymade garments, verities of lady cloth that also attracted the females, traditional food, social welfare stalls for the troops, PAFWA, a grand fun land for the children.
The Army band and dances by the children, wearing traditional dresses of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, also enthralled the spectators.Qazi Tufail’s younger brother also came on motor glider with his hands full of rose petals showering on the spectators which turned the atmosphere more pleasant.
In his address to the media men, Amjad Afridi said the event was aimed at telling the rest of the world that peace has been restored.“We want to portray the soft image of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that they are peace loving and famous for their hospitality,” he added.
He said the TCKP is working hard to have such event in all across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and after Kohat a festival would be organised in Mardan and Abbottabad.The advisor also thanked 9th Division of Pakistan Army for extending all-out support in holding the event where entries to families are free.
