DCO announces emergency in Multan district

MULTAN: The City District Government on Tuesday announced emergency after detection of dengue larva at more than three locations in the district.
The dengue larva was found at Mohallah Daulatabad, Madni Masjid, UC 39 Gul Din Colony, Sher Shah Town and Abdali Road, UC 28, New Nizamabad Colony and Musa Pak Town. The administration ordered the officials concerned to conduct anti-dengue spray on urgent basis in the district. Meanwhile, DCO Zahid Salim Gondal called an emergency meeting of all the district government departments to devise strategy to remove dengue larva. The DCO ordered to conduct special survey in all vicinities especially in Cantonment areas to remove dengue larva and launch a special awareness campaign in the district. He said that larvae test were being conducted at 20,000 different spots in the district and the district administration had registered six cases against commercial buildings owners for not removing stagnant water. DCO Zahid Salim Gondal said that dengue was a dangerous disease, but no dengue case had been detected yet in the district. He said that additional beds had been allocated in all hospitals. EDO Health Dr Iftikhar Qureshi also briefed the participants about dengue.
