PESHAWAR: The Fata Secretariat has increased the scholarships amount for students belonging to tribal areas.
A press release issued here on Tuesday stated that the Fata Development Working Party (FDWP) meeting held at the Fata Secretariat approved 13 development schemes amounting to Rs1190 million.
The FDWP decided to enhance the scholarship for engineering students from Rs3200 to Rs48,000 per annum. The annual scholarships for MBA, BBA and BIT students have been raised from Rs3050 per year to Rs 24,000 per annum.
Likewise, the scholarships for Fata students in diploma and bachelor courses in commerce, polytechnic and vocational institutes were raised to Rs 24,000 per annum from Rs 2450, 2350 and 1900 per year, respectively. The Fata Secretariat has enhanced the scholarships for the students in medical colleges, agriculture universities and cadet colleges last month.
The FDWP also approved schemes of Rs65.326 million in education sector that include regularisation of 19 community schools in North Waziristan Agency and financial assistance to Fazaia College Peshawar.
The Fazaia College would allocate 15 percent seats for Fata students in the degree and diploma courses, 10 percent seats in certificate courses and 10 percent quota for Fata graduates in the teaching faculty.
