Peace in Karachi improves economy: minister Terms security, energy, economic uplift, youth promotion top priorities of govt From Our Correspondent BAHAWALPUR: Engineer Muhammad Baleegh ur Rehman, State Minister for Education, Professional Training, Interior and Narcotics Control, Monday said law and order, energy, economic development and youth promotion are four top priorities of the present government and consistent implementation on the policy has enhanced image of the country globally. The minister said this while addressing a ceremony of laptops distribution under Prime Minister’s (National) Programme for provision of laptops to talented students at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. He said the operation against terrorists in the north and efforts to restore peace in Karachi are resulting in improvement of national economy. Several energy projects including Dasoo Dam and Quaid Azam Solar Park Project will help to control current power crises. He said Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif believes in youth of Pakistan and wants to utilize their potential for national progress and prosperity, saying that the government has increased the budget of Higher Education Commission several times and this year Rs 70 billion have been allocated for the HEC. He also lauded efforts of Vice Chancellor of the varsity. Earlier, Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur welcomed the Minister of State and said 2,236 students have been provided laptops under this scheme. On the occasion 40 students of various departments were given laptops. Sores of dignitaries, including members of parliament, district administration, faculty and student were present on the occasion.
