The rupee saw nominal decline in its value against the dollar amid some demand for the US currency by importers, dealers said.
In the interbank market, the rupee closed 101.57 to the dollar, down five paisas from the previous closing of 101.52.
At the start of the trading, the official market was calm; however, it turned a bit volatile after the fresh dollar demand rose by some importers.
