Relatives protest as man dies in Hangu police custody

HANGU: The angry relatives staged protest after an elderly man died in the custody of the police.
Talking to reporters, Basit Khan, Ahmad Ayaz and Irshad alleged that the cops, headed by Doaba Police Station’s House Officer Amirullah Khan, raided the house of 70-year old Gul Ayaz in Naryab village and arrested him.
“My father did not die of cardiac arrest but was tortured to death in the police lockup,” Ahmad Ayaz, son of the deceased man told.
They staged protest against the police brutality and placed the body on road outside the office of the district police officer and chanted slogans against the cops.
When contacted, the district police officer Anwar Saeed Kundi and station house officer Amirullah Khan said that the aged person was wanted by the police in a murder case and was arrested during a
raid on his house in Naryab village.
They said that he died of cardiac arrest on way to the police station.
