ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to control grey traffic has unearthed two illegal gateway exchanges in Kohat and Multan, a company statement said on Friday.
Two successful raids against the grey operators were carried out along with the FIA team in Kohat and Multan, it said.
First raid was carried out in Kohat where an illegal exchange, comprising four gateways along with SIMs was confiscated. One person was arrested and is in the FIA custody for further investigations.
Second raid was carried out at Chowk Kumharain, Multan, where an illegal exchange, comprising eight gateways, multiple ports along with other equipment like switches, SIMs, laptop and Modems was confiscated. One person was arrested and is in the FIA custody for further investigations.
The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by the PTA in curbing the menace of grey traffic, thus, curtailing the loss to the national exchequer.
