Weather, which has been hot for some days, turned pleasant after heavy rain in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Wednesday.
On the other hand, nearby hilly areas — Murree and Nathiagali — received heavy rain and hailstorm on Wednesday.
The rain in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has brought down temperature to some extent. Apart from pleasant weather, the rain cleaned the atmosphere of the twin cities of dust that was affecting people due to ongoing work on Metro Bus Service Project. The greenbelts of federal capital looked neat and clean.
The rain brought some joy for the residents of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad as they were facing hot weather for some days.
Muhammad Bashir, a resident of Saddar, told ‘The News’ that the temperature was rising to an unbearable level, but the rain turned it pleasant.
Haji Muhammad Jamal, a farmer, said that seasonal crops were affected due to unexpected rain spells during the last two months.
According to the Meteorological Office, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Pind Dadan Khan, Khewra, Pir Mahal, Pindi Bhattian, Sialkot, Pasrur, Faisalabad, Kalabagh and Hazara are likely to receive rain during next 24 hours. It has also predicted more rains in Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan, Hyderabad and Malakand during the next 24 hours. The weather in other cities will also stay partially cloudy whereas it may drizzle in a few areas.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Dr Muhammad Hanif told ‘The News’ that the present on and off rain spell would continue for next 24 hours, which will bring down temperature, particularly in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The daytime temperature would drop down, he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Shoib Khurram has warned motorists going or coming from Murree to drive slow and safely because of rain and heavy hailstorm that have made roads slippery.
