Patients suffers as young doctors observe strike in Multan From Our Correspondent MULTAN: The Young Doctors Association observed strike to press their demands here on Thursday. They also took out a rally from Nishtar Hospital up to District Jail Chowk and observed a sit-in against the government for not entertaining their demands. The doctors led by YDA president Dr Kabir observed strike in the OPD, which created problems for the patients. They warned of going on strike for an indefinite period if their demands were not met. The protesting doctors raised slogans against the Punjab government as well as the Health Department high-ups for what they called deliberate delay in implementing their service structure. Speaking on the occasion, YDA president Dr Kabir said that all stakeholders, including parliamentarians and Health Department officials, signed the draft of a proposed service structure for the doctors but the government was allegedly using delaying tactics. He demanded increase in salaries, revised service structure and foolproof security at hospitals. He also demanded the government establish to two general hospitals in Multan. SURVEY OF DILAPIDATED BUILDINGS ORDERED: The district administration has ordered all four TMAs of the district to conduct a survey of dilapidated buildings and submit their reports to him. DCO Zahid Salim Gondal said that more than 320 dangerous buildings had been identified in the district and their owners had been ordered to repair them. He said that historic buildings would be restored to their original shape under the District Government Old City Project. The bazaars from Sarafa Market to Hussain Agahi Chowk would be restored to historical shape, he added. He said that an anti-encroachment operation would soon be initiated to ensure smooth flow of traffic on Hussain Agahi Road. MPA Muhammad Ali and others were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, the town administrators issued final notices to the owners of dilapidated and dangerous buildings in the district.
