LAKKI MARWAT: The Wildlife Park established along the Indus Highway in Manjiwala area in the limits of Dadiwala Police Station is in need of better security.
The government set up the park five years ago on 225 kanals. Costly birds and animals, including deer, peacocks, cranes, ducks, etc have been kept at the park.During a visit to the park, this scribe observed that the boundary wall was short and even a minor could scale it to enter the park’s premises. A theft took place in December last year when thieves scaled the boundary wall.
The thieves tied the watchman and took away three precious birds. They slaughtered one of the birds while the other two were reported to have been sold. The police registered the case and arrested the accused with the help of sniffer dogs. The feathers of the slaughtered bird were also found in the house of the accused. The accused was later released on bail while the case is still in the court of law.
