This refers to the news report, ‘Judicial commission to submit report in 45 days’ (April 4). Going by the terms of reference, it appears that the PML-N negotiating team has outsmarted the PTI team. The onus has squarely been placed on the PTI to provide solid proof or irrefutable evidence of mass poll rigging or pinpoint serious irregularities occurring on a wider scale in the 2013 elections. Despite the lapse of so much time, the PTI has not been able to provide concrete evidence of rigging even in the NA-122 constituency of NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Moreover, the timeframe given to the judicial commission for its verdict is just 45 days which is too short a period. Another point is whether other political parties will cooperate with the PTI over the issue of alleged rigging. It seems that the PTI has not done its homework. Otherwise it would have prepared a white paper highlighting specific instances of grave irregularities in the election supported with documentary proof or acceptable evidence. This would have made the work of the commission easier.
