The Lahore High Court Wednesday issued notices to federal and Punjab governments on a petition challenging the PTI’s return to the parliament.
Arsalan Iftikhar, son of former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Ch, filed the petition pleading that the parliamentarians of PTI had tendered their resignations to speakers of the respective assemblies. He stated that the speakers, however, did not accept the resignations. Whereas, constitutionally the parliamentarians of PTI were no more members of the assemblies once they tendered the resignations, he added.
