OKARA: Tenants of the Anjuman-e-Mazareen Punjab (AMP) Kulyana Estate on Monday observed the sixth death anniversary of three tenants at Chak 28/2R.
Speaking on the occasion, AMP general secretary Mehr Abdus Sattar, Labour Party Pakistan general secretary Farooq Tariq and others said that their movement for ownership of land was continued and it had gained strength during the last 15 years. They said that several tenants had sacrificed their lives for their noble cause.
They also announced to stage a demonstration in favour of their demands in Lahore on April 17. They alleged that false cases were being registered against the tenants by the government, but the tenants under the AMP banner showed their strength. They assured that their movement would continue till the tenants get ownership of government lands and with drawl from cases against Nadeem Ashraf of Renala State, Malik Saleem Jhakhar of Kulyana State and other tenants. They demanded the Punjab CM take notice of false cases registered against the tenants.
Martyred soldier buried

OKARA: Muhammad Shahid, the Pak Army commando, who was martyred during operation Zarb-e-Azb in Wana, was buried at his ancestral graveyard at 44/GD village Bakhtawarwala on Monday.
Earlier, Shahid’s body was brought to his village by a Pak Army contingent and was buried with full military honour. DCO Qaisar Saleem, the Pak Army officers and members of civil administration and police attended his funeral prayers.
