Two killed, dozens injured as heavy
dust storm, downpour hit Bahawalpur div

BAHAWALPUR: Two people were killed and dozens of others injured when a heavy dust storm coupled with downpour hit the division on Monday.
Dilshad Ahmad of Basti Ali Kharrak near Mubarakpur and his mother were on their way when dust storm uprooted a tree and it fell on them. As a result, Dilshad was killed on the spot while his mother was injured.
Dust storm also uprooted electric poles, billboards and roofs of several houses, which left 18 people injured. The injured people were shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital. The dust storm and downpour also damaged wheat crop in the district. Dust storm also hit Khairpur Tamewali, Chishtian and Hasilpur. In Chishtian, an unidentified man was killed when a tree fell on him while many others were injured in different incidents.
